Short answer

Omega made two Seamaster models for the Daniel Craig Bond films. The Seamaster 300 "Spectre" Limited Edition arrived in 2015 in a run of 7,007 pieces. The Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition arrived in 2019 and appeared in No Time To Die. Both have been copied in China. Replicas come in three price groups: quartz models at $30 to $80, mid-tier models at $200 to $400, and "super clone" models at $500 to $900. None carry the Omega co-axial movement. None use Grade 2 titanium. The genuine 007 Edition has a solid titanium caseback with no display window, so a seller showing a sapphire caseback on that model is showing a fake.

Case material and weight

The 007 Edition case is 42 mm Grade 2 titanium. Titanium has a density near 4.5 g/cm3 against 7.9 g/cm3 for steel, so a titanium case weighs about 43 percent less than a steel case of the same size. A "titanium" listing that feels like steel is a fake. Copies also show wider lug bevels and softer brushing on the case sides.

Movement

The 007 Edition runs the Omega calibre 8806: co-axial escapement, 55 hour power reserve, 25,200 vibrations per hour, METAS Master Chronometer certification, and resistance to 15,000 gauss. The Spectre Seamaster 300 runs the calibre 8400. Replica movements are Seagull ST2130, Miyota 9015, or a decorated ETA 2824 copy, and most run at 28,800 vph. A METAS card that arrives with a $400 watch is a print job, not a test record.

Caseback and engraving

The 2015 Spectre model has a closed steel caseback engraved with the SPECTRE name and the limited number. The 2019 007 Edition has a closed titanium caseback with a 007 marking and lines of military-style text. Fakes show wrong letter spacing, shallow laser etching, and a sapphire display back on models that never had one.

Dial, hands, and bezel

  • Bezel insert: aluminum on the 007 Edition. Many copies use ceramic or painted steel.
  • Dial: no date window on the 007 Edition. A date at 3 o'clock is wrong for that reference.
  • Hands: the Spectre seconds hand carries a lollipop tip and a 007 counterweight. Copies print the 007 on the wrong side or drop it.
  • Lume: genuine dials use one compound on all markers. Copies mix colors between hands and hour markers.
  • Print: the "Seamaster" and "Omega" fonts on copies sit too thick or too far from the center.

Strap and bracelet

The 007 Edition shipped on a striped NATO strap with titanium hardware or on a titanium Milanese mesh bracelet. Copies ship with steel hardware and nylon that fades. Mesh links on copies do not flex through the same arc, and the clasp teeth bite into the mesh.

Price and paperwork

The 007 Edition listed near $9,200 USD at launch. A full set includes the box, the warranty card, and the pictogram card with a serial that matches the case. Omega boutiques and authorized service centers can verify a movement serial. A complete set at $1,500 is a counterfeit. In the United States, selling a counterfeit watch is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. 2320, and CBP seizes shipments at the border.

Checks before you buy

  1. Ask for a photo of the caseback and of the movement with the caseback removed.
  2. Weigh the watch. A titanium 007 Edition on a NATO strap weighs far less than any steel copy.
  3. Check the serial against the warranty card and the Omega service record.
  4. Buy from an authorized dealer or a seller with a written return policy.
