Short answer
IWC used numbers in the IW376xxx block for round Da Vinci chronographs sold from about 2007 to 2010. IWC's public catalog does not publish a full English spec sheet for IW376003, so the case size, dial layout and movement for that exact number cannot be confirmed here. Replicas sold under this number copy the same body shape: a round steel case in the 40 mm to 44 mm range, a chronograph, and a leather strap. Prices run from about $60 for quartz to $600 for a so called 1:1 super clone with a clone automatic chronograph.
What the number belongs to
The Da Vinci line started in 1969 with the Beta 21 quartz watch. Later references covered perpetual calendars, automatic chronographs and slim dress watches. The IW376xxx block falls in the 2007 to 2010 window, when IWC put its in house 89000 series chronograph caliber into the Da Vinci case. Watches from that block carry a two register chronograph, a date window and a sapphire crystal. Buyers who find an IW376003 listing should check it against IWC's reference archive or a dealer invoice before treating any spec as fixed.
How replicas of this reference are built
- Quartz: $40 to $90. Subdials are often decorative or run a 24 hour dial.
- Entry automatic: $120 to $250. Uses a Chinese copy of the Valjoux 7750 layout.
- Mid tier: $250 to $400. Added AR coating, engraved caseback, cleaner date font.
- Super clone tier: $400 to $600. Clone chronograph movement, tighter subdial spacing, decorated rotor.
Sellers list sizes from 40 mm to 44 mm for the same reference number. That spread points to listings that copy photos rather than one factory spec.
Points to check before paying
- Subdial spacing. An 89000 series chronograph puts registers at 12 and 6. Many copies use a 7750 layout with registers at 12 and 6 plus a third at 9.
- Date font and window cut. Copies show a wider window and a heavier font.
- Caseback engraving. Laser text looks flat next to stamped or deep engraved text.
- Rotor and bridges. Decorated plates on copies show tool marks under a loupe.
- Pusher feel. A real chronograph pusher has short, firm travel.
- Weight. Steel copies in the 44 mm size land between 90 g and 130 g on a strap.
Market and legal notes
A replica is not a repair part and not an asset. Resale value sits near zero and service shops turn them away. US customs can seize counterfeit watches under 19 USC 1526, and shipping carries the same risk. If the goal is the Da Vinci look on a budget, a used quartz dress chronograph from a mainstream brand costs less than a top tier copy and holds value.
The numbers above come from listing patterns, not from one factory. Ask for a movement photo, a timegrapher printout and a caseback shot before payment.
